This is Tenuta delle Terre Nere's Etna Calderara Sottana Rosso, a single-vineyard Etna DOC red made from Nerello Mascalese grown on the volcano's dark, mineral-rich soils. Sicily's answer to Burgundian-style winemaking, it reflects the estate's focus on site-specific expression on Etna's northern slopes.

Expect a wine of transparency and energy: red cherry and wild strawberry fruit laced with smoke, dried herbs and a saline, volcanic edge, framed by fine tannins. Serve at 16-17°C with grilled meats, lamb, tomato-based pasta or other rustic, herb-driven dishes that match its savoury character.
