Beschreibung

This vibrant and powerful red is made from Croatia’s flagship black grape, Plavac Mali, sourced from the renowned Dingač vineyards on the Pelješac peninsula. In 1961, this rugged stretch of coastline became Croatia’s first officially recognised winemaking appellation, thanks to its steep, sun-drenched slopes and the moderating influence of the nearby Adriatic Sea—conditions that deliver robust yet harmoniously balanced reds. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand on the precipitous hillsides, with careful berry selection ensuring only the finest fruit makes it to the cellar. Fermentation takes place in traditional large wooden vats, before the young wine is matured in a mix of concrete vats, large wooden casks and small oak barrels to build depth and complexity. On the nose, layers of blueberries, blackberries and ripe plums mingle with evocative notes of oregano, thyme and other Mediterranean herbs. The palate is rich and velvety, framed by supple tannins that promise both immediate pleasure and the potential for further ageing.
