Gulfi - Pinò - Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT

Gulfi, based in Sicily, turns its hand to Pinot Noir with Pinò, bottled under the broad Terre Siciliane IGT. It is an unusual choice of grape for the island, grown here away from its Burgundian home and shaped by Sicilian sun rather than continental cool.

The result is a red with more warmth and fruit density than northern Pinot, red cherry and soft spice carried on a medium body. Serve it lightly chilled with grilled lamb, beef carpaccio or a simple pasta dish - it is food wine, built for the table rather than the cellar.
