Giovanni Montisci - Barrosu - Cannonau di Sardegna DOC

Giovanni Montisci is a small, highly regarded producer in Mamoiada, the heartland of old-vine Cannonau in Sardinia's Nuoro province. Barrosu is his flagship wine, made from ancient Cannonau bush vines grown at altitude on granite soils — a wine that draws serious attention from collectors and importers across Europe.

At 16% ABV this is a substantial, structured red, but one with genuine complexity rather than mere weight: expect dried cherry, iron, dried herbs and a savoury, leathery depth that Mamoiada old-vine Cannonau does better than anywhere. Serve it with slow-roasted lamb, venison, aged pecorino or rich braised beef — a wine that rewards the table as much as the glass.
