Domaine de la Roche Moreau produces this Chaume Premier Cru from the Coteaux du Layon in the Loire, made entirely from Chenin Blanc grown on the appellation's south-facing slopes above the Layon river. It is a sweet wine, built for concentration and age-worthiness, at 13% abv.

Expect honeyed apricot, quince and orange peel, lifted by Chenin's natural acidity so it never cloys. Serve chilled at 10-12°C with fruit-based desserts, or take it in the other direction with Roquefort, blue cheese or aged hard cheeses — a pairing this wine handles with ease.
