Benanti - Contrada Calderara Sottana Rosso - Etna DOC

Benanti's Contrada Calderara Sottana Rosso is a single-contrada Etna Rosso from Sicily, made entirely from Nerello Mascalese grown on the volcano's mineral-rich soils. Contrada wines are Etna's answer to Burgundy's climats, each site expressing its own character through this thin-skinned, structured variety.

Expect a red with real perfume, red cherry and wild herb notes, fine tannin and the volcanic, ashy minerality that defines serious Etna Rosso. At 14% abv it has enough backbone for grilled meats and game, but the freshness to suit lighter dishes too.
